IDEA #1 | TikTok Basics

TLDR: Understanding the basics of TikTok so you can start generating some money

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎

1. Problem/Opportunity

If you've been following this newsletter, you know I’m all about keeping you in the loop with the latest viral TikTok niches.

My goal is to help you leverage this info to get monetized and start raking in cash through the TikTok Creativity Program.

However recently I have found that almost 90% of my viewers are completely lost. Most people are not aware of the common knowledge that is soooo simple, but very important. I took my time to answer the most common questions I receive, so make sure to read it all.

Common Questions

How often should I post? Post between 1-3 videos per day, with a minimum 3 hours in between each video.

What does "warming up" an account mean? How do I do it? Warming up an account means that you engage like a normal person on your freshly created TikTok account, so that the algorithm does not mistake you for a bot, leading to a lesser risk of getting shadowbanned.

Warm up your account by:

1) Scrolling through the FYP feed as if you're normally using the app, post some comments and like videos regularly.

2) Don't change your profile picture and bio the first thing you do. Instead, change them after you've posted 1-2 videos.

3) Verify your email address in the TikTok settings.

4) Let your account exist for 1-2 days while warming it up. Never post immediately after it has been created.

  1.

Why am I stuck at precisely 0 views on all my videos? It's because your account has been shadowbanned.

What is AVD? Average View Duration, the most important metric that you'll be able to see in the TikTok video analytics. The average view duration shows how long the average viewer stays on your video. A person that rewatches the video will increase the AVD a lot.

What is a hook? A hook occurs in the first 1-3 seconds of your video. A good hook will "force" the viewer to continue watching, increasing the AVD. A bad hook, however, will make the viewer continue scrolling, ruining the statistics for your video. The first second of your video matters the most.

Should I post from my desktop or my mobile device? While this is not 100% confirmed, it is generally said that posting from mobile devices is preferred to avoid a dip in content performance.

Should I use a VPN? While a VPN can be useful to make sure TikTok doesn't judge your location, it can kill views. Refrain from using VPNs if possible.

Why does TikTok label content as "Ineligible for the For You Page"? This happens when:

1) Your content is not original enough (meaning you've taken too much content online or from others).

2) You're re-uploading content that others have posted.

3) You are violating guidelines prohibiting your video from getting maximum exposure.

Fix this by:

1) Incorporating more advanced editing

2) Not taking other creators' content

3) Don't show one lengthy Minecraft gameplay (or other gameplay videos) as the background footage for the whole video. IF you're going to do it, use lesser-known gameplay clips.

4) Make it less "AI-generated" by using more advanced effects and voice-overs

Tired after all that?
